Lets not be everyone
We walk out of school on the last day with high hopes for this summer and what it holds. But let's talk about our generation for a moment.. walking into a highschool you're surrounded by stories of parties from the previous weekend, rumors of who slept with who, where drama and rumors fills your ears without hesitation. And THAT is our generation. Some walk out on the last day with hope of their summer filled with these things as well, partying every weekend, finally doing "it", and that is the norm... then the snowball effect begins and people follow this crowd simply because "everyone else is" and when we walk back into those highschool walls in the fall the rumors and stories from last summer are overwhelming. But what if instead of these rumors and drama filled stories that are spread all over school... they spread something else. Something that brings us together, rather than apart. What if when we got back all kids could talk about was their experience with God or what God is doing in their lives. I had the experience to go to CIY Move over this summer where we learned about furthering our relationship with Christ and that in the process there are things you must leave behind...to many that included drinking, drugs , temptation, toxic relationships, those of which we experience on an everyday basis in highschool. What if EVERYONE in your school made that decision as well, to further their relationship with Christ rather than with sin. What would our schools look like?? What would it look like if they all knew their worth was not defined by what other teenagers think but as what God knows of them. That they are not defined by their families actions but for who THEY are and their love for God and the people around them. What if we redefined the "everyone "? I've recently been welcomed into a community of teenagers with the same vision, with open arms. A vision to unleash a revolution of love , to redefine our generation, to not be "everyone". Where we believe that we are called to be like Jesus. But, what if this snowball effects and we spread this revolution of love to everyone we know. We spread not only ours but god's love to the people that surround us and they follow and I know we have this power to do so, we have the power to block this trap of a superficial lifestyle and lead them to the way of the gospel so why aren't we doing so ??
I am here to say , from now on I will not be "everyone".
